Most of the hype at the time was geared towards Quake and Doom. Wolfenstein and Blake Stone are both great games that didn't get the same attention as the more popular titles. Out of all those I prefered Wolfenstein 3D which completely redefined what a shooter should be.

I never liked Doom a whole lot for some reason. It was okay, but I don't know, it's always felt kind of empty and like it lacked something.

I still have respect for how it advanced the genre. Among the three, I have the greatest respect for Wolfenstein. Mother of the FPS genre as we know it, yet she gets so little credit for it.Blake Stone was basically an improved, more colorful, and more interesting version of Wolfenstein for me. The weapons mostly followed the same style of 'the bigger gun is the better gun,' that would never fly in a FPS today, but had a little more variety in their uses. The enemies all looked impressive and creatively designed, and there were quite a lot of them.

I'm surprised as heck to see anyone even mentioning Blake Stone's name on this forum, most people have no idea about its existence. Most people rave about Doom starting everything and don't give credit to Wolfenstein for even allowing Doom to exist.Blake Stone was basically a Wolfenstein clone, but it was a very good clone in my opinion. I guess Doom, since I've played it the most. Not necessarily my favourite, but that's what my friends were playing.

BTW, could you link two PC's for coop in Doom or was that in D2? I mean if you just want to fly around with CE and take some nice pics out of the places you wouldn't get to, thats cool, sure, go ahead and do it but don't ruin the fun of the game with level modifiers and other ♥♥♥♥♥ies.

Blake Stone Wolfenstein DoomSame order I'd put them in. I also liked Blake Stone's music more than Doom's. The song to the second level of the first episode was always my favorite.
