Hyrule Total War Majora

Hyrule: Total War A Master Entity Majora appears again in the Hyrule: Total War by Undying Nephalim, in this version she is in her true form and the leader of the Church of Majora.
There were a few things that first drew me to Hyrule Warriors. First off was its apparent similarity to a fan-made game called Hyrule: Total War, although I figured out later on to retract this assumption. The second thing about Hyrule Warriors that made me really want to play it was its potential for a vast inclusion of characters from every part of the Zelda universe. Finally, I appreciated its fast-paced gameplay and graphically enhanced redesigns of characters and settings.I greatly enjoyed it for the first couple months. I made sure to get every available costume, and bought the DLC season pass when it first became available. Regardless of my criticisms of it, Hyrule Warriors provided me with hours and hours of fun— and a new addiction.
I don’t regret buying the game, because, through playing it, I’ve learned plenty about good and bad game design. In addition, even if I don’t continue to play it as much, I still have a gallery of the characters, very nice looking designs of older Zelda locations, and a few other things as well. It’s certainly not worth the price of the game, but it’s a plus nonetheless. Here’s where I will point out the specific aspects of this game that I strongly dislike.
This thread, although it invites negative opinions of Hyrule Warriors, is meant to encourage expression and discussion, so of course, any counterarguments or praise for the game are welcome. Also, when I use the term “stage” or “map,” I’m referring to a specific environment in the game, such as Death Mountain or Skyloft. When I use the term “level,” I’m either referring to the amount of experience a character possesses (attack power), or a mission in Adventure Mode, depending on the context.1. Retailer exclusive costumes for Link and ZeldaThe only conceivable benefit to the retailer exclusive costumes I can think of, is that the game’s producers, for some reason, wanted to “equalize” the amount of copies of the game bought at different retailers (Amazon, Gamestop, and Best Buy). In this instance, unless the game’s developers just wanted a sense of neutrality among the businesses the game was being sold in, I would expect that this has more of a benefit for the retailers, since, if we assume that an equal amount of people would each want to obtain the Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, and Ocarina of Time costumes for Link and Zelda, then this would translate to similarly balanced purchases at each of these retailers. Regardless, this doesn’t benefit the player. Personally, I don’t think the idea to split up the alternate costumes so that the other two were unobtainable was a good idea, and it didn’t consider the best interests of the player.

I know that these costumes are now available for purchase, but I still think it was a poor decision in the first place.2. Overuse of the Zelda themeThe title screen, main menu, Adventure Mode map, and Master Quest map all use a variation of the main Zelda theme.
I love the song, but even Zelda music gets old when you’re listening to it between every battle.3. StoryHyrule Warriors is often called a “fan service” game, and its storyline is often cited as a good example of this. With new characters, and the combinations of characters from different areas on the Zelda timeline, it’s easy to see why people would appreciate the story. However, its shortcomings are greater than its benefits. Hyrule Warriors, as a non-canon “celebration title” of Zelda had the opportunity to show off a new story that would not be compatible with the rest of the Zelda series. Apart from its characters, however, the story is almost the exact same as a newcomer to the Zelda series would expect from a Zelda game.
The plot involves Link and Zelda attempting to prevent Ganondorf from completing the Triforce. Yes, Cia is mixed up in the story as well, but her presence does nothing to change these already overused plot elements. I wouldn’t mind if the Triforce played some role in the story, but I’m tired of seeing it play the same role in the story repeatedly. The problems I have with the importance of the Triforce in the plot also apply to Ganon’s status as the final boss.
If the developers were trying to surprise the player (which they may not have been), then making Ganon the final boss was not an effective way to meet this goal.Next, the only unique, 'guessable' element of the story (Cia and Lana’s original identity) has no impact on the narrative other than to surprise the player. When Lana reveals to Midna that she and Cia were once the same person, this gives off the illusion of change, because the player was exposed to “important” information. However, Lana is still on the same side as the rest of the heroes, and Cia still fights against Lana and the other characters, just as it was at the beginning of the game, and just how it is at the end. If the story in a game has “plot twist” moments, these moments should at least bend the story or gameplay a little bit.
Cia and Lana’s identity are fit only for extended character biographies.4. Character rosterDynasty Warriors 7, the most recent Dynasty Warriors game to have been released before Hyrule Warriors, has a total of sixty-two characters. Hyrule Warriors, including all of the already released and upcoming DLC, has twenty-one. You might claim that this isn’t a fair argument since Hyrule Warriors is not a standard Dynasty Warriors game, but if you’re developing a game that’s a variation of a game series you’ve already established, you should at least try to reach the same standards as those games. The character roster in Hyrule Warriors is an embarrassing and awkward regression of the expansion that Dynasty Warriors gradually makes in its character roster with each installment. Also, if you consider Young Link and Link, Ganon and Ganondorf, and Midna and Twili Midna to be the same characters, and exclude original characters like Lana, Cia, Volga, and Wizzro, the character roster lies at a whopping fourteen. Original charactersIf the appeal of a game like Hyrule Warriors is in some way connected to the variations of playable characters from the Zelda series, then why is the already lackluster character roster sacrificed to compensate for characters that have never appeared in a Zelda game? I don’t care how much Cia, Volga, and Wizzro resemble certain Zelda enemies; they serve completely different functions in the story because they are completely different characters.
I would have much rather seen Cia appear as Meg the Po Sister, Volga as Volvagia or Onox, and Wizzro as Carock or a wizzrobe. This would encourage inexperienced Zelda players to seek the origins of these characters, and would serve as a pleasant surprise for players that have already played most Zelda games— thus benefiting any type of player. In regards to Lana, while she serves as a convenient excuse to carry a variety of weapons, she could have been replaced with another canonical character— or multiple, considering her weapons don’t pertain to any one character.6. RPG elementsI find it interesting that Hyrule Warriors includes the tedious and frustrating elements of typical RPGs, without including any of the positive elements. It has grinding and random item drops, and yet doesn’t expand the move-sets of the characters. Most characters can have their full move-set unlocked within an hour, but from that point on, the only thing about the characters that can be improved is their attack power (level), and badges, which are universal for each character.
There are no character-specific moves that become available as the player levels up a character, thus the reward for grinding is not as interesting.I started playing Earthbound a few months ago, and every time I level up a character to a certain point, I anticipate what kind of ability my character will gain. This genuinely encouraged me to keep playing because each individual character’s move-set was gradually but continually diversifying. The grinding in Hyrule Warriors, on the other hand, feels pointless. An additional complaint I have in concerns to the grinding is that it’s necessary if you want to obtain alternate costumes, weapons, or even just advance to the next level in a manageable amount of time.
Thank you for the in-depth review of Hyrule Warriors,. I agree that the game is disappointing because it is not what a Legend of Zelda game series fan hope for, as it is way off from the basic factor and essence of the original game.Maybe you can call it as a spin-off of the ones that we had grown to love since it seems as if the game dev is mocking the fans or they just created the game for its successful predecessors' reputation among us gamers but is actually designed just to reel-in money for the company where it is not what that their fans want out of the game. It makes me shudder thinking about them challenging our loyalty towards the game by doing this.imo, it is more of business politics for benefiting the maker while it badly impacts gamers' interest and trust by disappointing us. Get the drift?

Armies assembled by the Church of Majora generally are composed of the same soldiers trained by every other race in Hyrule, though horrific spawn of Majora itself may disgrace the battlefield with their demonic and twisted presence.Units Standard.Special.Heroes.Titan.Trivia.
