Digilent Analog Discovery 2
Download the LabVIEW Driver for Analog Discovery 2 - NI Edition. This is a tutorial to get any user started with the example LabVIEW VI’s available for the Analog Discovery 2; with an understanding of the functions used in the examples, users will be able to program custom instruments and analyses with LabVIEW and their Analog Discovery 2.
AAC's Robin Mitchell discusses the capabilities of Digilent's Analog Discovery 2 test-and-measurement tool.Anyone doing electronics as a profession, education, or a hobby will eventually need to upgrade their hardware and start to look into equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and function generators. Unless you're prepared to make this equipment yourself, you can expect to spend hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars for desktop standalone units.Of course, this is only half the problem. What about space? This type of tech can really eat away at desk space, which is often in short supply. This is where Digilent has stepped in and created their latest desktop product, the Analog Discovery 2 (or AD2, as I'll refer to it in this article).
.Digilent Analog Discovery 2 is a multi-function device to measure, visualize, generate, record and control mixed signal circuits. The low-cost analog Discovery 2 is small enough to fit in a pocket but powerful enough to replace a stack of lab equipment. This gets the engineering student, hobbyist or electronics enthusiast out of the lab to work with analog or digital circuits in any environment.
Simple wire probes connect the analog and digital inputs and outputs to a circuit. The Analog Discovery BNC Adapter and BNC probes can connect and utilize inputs and outputs. Free WaveForms software drives the Analog Discovery 2 and can be configured to work as several traditional instruments. Two input/output digital trigger signals for linking multiple instruments (3.3V CMOS). Two programmable power supplies (0+5V, 0-5V). The maximum available output current and power depend on the Analog Discovery 2 powering choice:. 250mW max for each supply or 500mW total when powered through USB.

700mA max or 2.1W max for each supply when using an external wall power supply. Network analyzer - Bode, Nyquist, Nichols transfer diagrams of a circuit. Range: 1Hz to 10MHz. Spectrum Analyzer - power spectrum and spectral measurements (noise floor, SFDR, SNR, THD, etc.).
Digital Bus Analyzers (SPI, I²C, UART, Parallel).
