The game was release in North America on August 20, 2002.Medieval: Total War is a magnificent real-time strategy game with a new and complete 3D engine that lets you control 10,000 different types of troops and 100 unique units with in the game. The players will be able to use their tactics and strategies for taking castles by using rams, archers, and a heavy cavalry. The game is based on building an empire across medieval Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. It focuses on the warfare, politics, and religion of the time the game takes place and ultimately leads the player in conquest of the known world.The strategy part of the game divides the campaign map among twenty factions from the period in the game with a total of twelve being playable. The extent of the major faction's territory and the factions available depends on the starting time of the game. There different times you can choose from, and these are 'Early' (1087), 'High' (1205), and 'Late' (1321).
